FANTASTIC NEWS! PVSK U16’s TEAM BEAT BARCELONA ACADEMY 1-0!
06.04.2024
Everyone did a great job and the team worked very hard. The very hot weather presented an extra challenge, but the players persevered and delivered the victory!
Also we had many chances in the game, including a penalty when George Hawkins was brought down but the referee didn’t blow the whistle for a foul.
The winning goal was eventually scored by George Hawkins in the 71st minute from Noel Lőth’s free kick which he converted excellently.
Congratulations to the whole team for a great performance and victory!
PVSK U16: Móritz Márk – Fülöp Ármin, Hawkins George Zed (1), Juhász Tamás Péter, Kondor Csanád Pál, Lóth Noel, Orlovics Olivér, Vastagh Berton, Sifter Mihály, Wittenberger Kornél, Gelencsér Dániel.
Domink Kiss-Tóth: The conditions were not favorable for us. I had several absences during the week- illness, suspension and injury hindered the team. In addition, I had to return the 2 U15 team players who played with us, because they had an important match to play today as well!
They say that the 11 players on the field are always the strongest, but in our case I didn’t even have to think about the starters, because I only had eleven players. I told the guys in the dressing room that we have a chance as long as the match is 0-0, we have nothing to lose. So, I asked them to put their heart and soul into it and show what they know. They did so, they gave everything, they defended with discipline, sometimes there were five defenders, sometimes six in the last chain. We didn’t play a nice game, but that wasn’t our goal this time. The opponent couldn’t find a hold on us.
In the 71st minute, we reaped the benefits of the work we put in, as George Hawkins took the lead from Noel Lóth’s free kick, which also meant the final result. The guys didn’t even need more, they just hit them with a shovel. Furthermore, a 100% penalty was not awarded by the referee (under the heading that we dragged out time throughout the match), which would have backfired if my goalkeeper Márk Móricz had not performed two great saves in the 87th minute.
The final result remained 1-0, the boys deserved it based on the work they put in. I am proud of each and every one of them, everyone gave the maximum expected of them, which I am very happy about! But four of them were able to add the extra, George Hawkins, Noel Lóth, Márk Móritz and Olivér Orlovics!
Thank you to the team for this match, I congratulate them once again!
